My 23 Things journey was a long one. I learned all sorts of new things that I probably wouldn't have learned if it wasn't for this activity. My favorite exercise would probably be one of the last ones we did. Aminto was a fun exercise and I feel that I would use this one alot. It was simple and interesting. I am not going to lie when I first started these 23 Things I never thought I would enjoy it as much as I did. Blogging is also very cool. I like sharing my different opinions and how may day went. All in all this was a great learning experience and if anyone tells me that they do not want to finish out their 23 Things I will most definitely tell them to do it. It did not take long and everything was extremely useful! Well I guess this is goodbye! Hopefully I will keep continuing to blog but if not it was super fun!
Bye :]

Last One!!
Creative Commons was not originally created at Austin Peay. It was adapted to the university to meet all the standards we must use. We also in Education 3040 had to creative a Creative Commons PowerPoint to show that we understood the concept of the way this works. This will be very helpful in the future in your classroom. It is very important that students know where the information they are looking up for research projects or anything like that came from and if it is copy righted or not. This way they will not be stealing anyone ideas and get in trouble for it.

Today I explored the wonderful world of online binders. The website is called Livebinders.com. This website allows you to have binders just like you would at school but they are all online. If your like me I use the Internet all the time! So having these binders online is very useful. I made 3 binders and each are labeled by the classes I am taking this year. Depending on what binder it is, is what I put in them. for example for my binder labeled Education 3040 I put in most of the websites that I use for that class. It is very convenient.
Using these binders in your classroom could be useful as well when it comes to different lesson plans you find online. You could label each binder a different subject and place the lesson plans that go with each subject in the binder.
The students could also use this online tool by keeping up with their research projects in a binder as well. It would be much easier than printing off all their information and it at the same time will save trees!

My experience with Aminto was kinda frustrating at first, one because I think my computer was being rather slow. After I got the hang of it I found it fun. I just used everything that was already given on the site. For example the pictures and music. I decided to go with the whole wedding theme since I am engaged. It was cute and simple. Only could be 30 seconds long but it was good enough. I would use this more if I could afford the subscription. Maybe one day in the future when I become a billionaire as a teacher I will be able to use it again. All in all a good website!

YouTube!
In the past I have used YouTube before. This website allows you to view videos pretty much about anything you would like to watch. Our assignment was to explore. I watched anything from pranks to recently updated news. I find it amazing how quick something can be put on YouTube. We were also suppose to post a link on a video that we would like to share. The video I am posting is very disturbing. It is a real life teacher I am assuming in another country seeing how he is speaking in a different language. A student is being a distraction in class and the teacher gets frustrated and actually throws an earser at the student and drills him in the head. I highly doubt that is anywhere from being legal. YouTube is wonderful :]

Hello!
Like I mentioned in the previous post I am not a huge fan of Twitter and that I wish there were other sites where you could do the same thing. On this activity we viewed many other social networking websites, for example I checked out the social network "Gather". This is a more mature website for adults to be able to network together and chat. On this you do not have to follow one every second or post something every second of the day in order to do this. It is all based off on your own time. If I had to choose one of the websites I would pick this one.

Twitter..blah blah blah
I always told myself that I would never set up a Twitter account. In one of my Education classes we were instructed to set up an account on Twitter and to follow a teacher. So I gave in because it was a class assignment and I set up a Twitter account. I chose to follow my sister who is an elementary school teacher. I think it is important to have social networking within the school so that teachers can share ideas and know whats going on with each other. I am not so much a fan of Twitter. I really just don't have the care to follow people around and know what they are doing every second of the day. I also don't feel the need to post what I am doing every second of the day as well. Like I said before though I do feel that it is important to have social networking within a school or schools. Maybe just something other than Twitter.

De.icio.us
This is a website that allows you to bookmark any page that you want. For example, if you have a certain website that you really enjoy you can "bookmark" the page that way you can access it easily. I feel that this would be a good tool to use in the classroom. If your students were studying a specific topic lets say over Science and they are doing some research they can bookmark this page so that when they need to finish it later on they wont have to search for the website again. This would also be good for a teacher to use when at their desk. If their is a website that they found to teach over but time runs out for the lesson plan they can book mark the page so the next day they can go back to it.

Thing #16
iGoogle!
iGoogle is the home page that I chose. I previously had Facebook as my homepage but I figured it is about time to grow up and inform myself on some more news like issues. This is why I decided to make iGoogle my homepage. It lets me know all the issues or concerns going on in the world. I get on my computer numerous times during the day so now when I get on it is convenient that I read up on the news.
I am a very organized person. I would be lost without my planner when keeping up with homework assignments or things going on in my personal life. Using an online calender is very helpful. I already use one so on this activity I decided to change it up some and make the calender a little more interesting and fun. I also found a calender application on my Droid, so now I have my own personal calender with my at all times!
Like I mentioned in the above paragraph, I am an organized person therefore a to-do-list is a MUST! Every day I tear out a sheet of notebook paper and I write down everything I must do before the day ends. Having an online to-do-list is very much helpful. Once again there is an application on my phone where I can type in everything I must get done.
I feel that all these tools would be useful at school or at your home. I would probably suggest using the calender more than anything! I mean if your a person like me and you need to know what you need to keep up with or else you will just forget everything you were instructed to do then I would advise you to use this online calender. Very helpful!

Wiki :]
I thought this was a super fun activity! The way "Wikis" work is that it is one full page of everyone writing, posting pictures, or even just commenting on other peoples ideas that they had posted. It allows you to remove, edit, and post new ideas. This is especially good when you want to keep up with people or if you see some information on there that you don't necessarily thing is true, you can go in a delete it..just like that!
Wiki is very similar in style with Wikipedia. I am assuming they probably got this idea from Wikipedia itself. This was an exciting activity and I went on the APSU wiki site and posted a picture from one of my blogs. Not to complicated, just follow the introductions and you will be a "Wiki" expert in no time!

Hi :]
Today I explored Mind Maps and Flow Charts. These were similar in the way they operated. Everyone knows how a flow chart works. It is sort of like the way things go in order, from beginning to end. The mind maps consisted of the same thing but they were almost like bubbles, but still operated the same way. I would more likely use Flow Charts in the classroom. You could use this by showing your students the different ways simple machines work or how the human body operates. Showing how one thing leads to another. I have used flow charts for many presentations as well. So if you had to present a new idea to your school adminstrator.

Hello :]
Everyone must visit Zoho.com! It is the neatest site that I have encountered in a while. You go to Zoho Writer and it is almost like Word. All the functions are very similar but on Zoho writer there are actually more things you can do to a paper or whatever you are working on. The features are much better!
Another pretty good site is the Google Docs. On here you can create spreadsheets, upload documents, upload pictures, etc. I decided to play around with the uploading pictures part. Here is my link...https://docs.google.com/leaf?id=0B9X0KpKEAq0bNzE4ZGE2NzMtNjI4ZC00YzEwLTlkZDAtYTQzMjU2ZmI1YzQ0&hl=en
It is a picture of my fiance now proposing to me.
I would most likely use the Zoho website again. It was way more interesting to me rather than the Google Doc website. The reason is because I am in college so I do write lots of papers..I would benefit more by using the Zoho account.

Hola a todos!
Bonjour à tous!
Hallo an alle!
Ciao a tutti!
These are four different ways to say "Hello everyone!". In Google Translate you can type in any phrase that you need to be translated and it will do it for you in a matter of seconds! These four phrases are in Spanish, French, German, and Italian. I did not know this even existed. I feel like this would be great in a classroom if maybe you were doing a lesson over any of these languages. It's a quick and easy way to translate. This is just one of the things I explored on Google. The other one I looked at was Google Alert. I decided to set up an account to send me alerts on educational news as it happens. I feel this will keep me updated in today's news about teachers or students. In a classroom this would be great. You could keep all your students parents up to date about whats going on in the education world, if they don't already know.
Google is not just a researching tool, it also has very cool links like the alert and translate one. There is many more to explore :)

Hello!
Todays discovery exercise is having to do with RSS readers. We recently set up an account and explore the way the RSS system works. It's basically amazing :)
Today I explored Topix.net which to me was probably the easiest to follow. On this site it gives you a whole list of things that are going on in today's world. This way you can just click on the link and your site is right there in front of you. Then you can go and add it to your RSS account so that way you can look up your sites everyday just by logging in to your RSS account.
The next website I explored was Technorati. This site was very simple to use as well. It was also very similar to Topix.net because it gave you the "Whats Hot" stories right in front of you. This site is a very easy way to look up your blogs. I am all about watching The Biggest Loser and there was a great story over one of the contestants on this site. I definitely added this to my RSS reader.
This sites were very interesting and helpful when it came to researching the stories that I was interested in reading about.

Hello all :)
Flickr was a very interesting site. I enjoyed looking at all the photos and how creative they were. Sometimes I wish I had the talent to take a really great photo, but mostly my pictures turn out not so great. After exploring Flickr for some time I came across this photo. I really enjoy this picture because its cute and sweet. I like how the couple is almost in a faded background and I also like how you can see someone thinking the same thing as I am and wants to take the picture. This couple had no idea someone was taking a picture so this definitely was not just a pose. They are just showing affection, just like they would in every day life.

RSS READERS!!
This is the most incredible invention ever to come into the world! I can't believe that you can see and visit all your favorite news or blog postings all on one site! I am very fascinated with this. Good thing we are doing these 23 Things or I would have never found this.
You could definitely use this in the classroom in many ways. One way you could use this is so your students could be up to date with the world news. They could set up their own RSS account and check it every morning and write about whats going on that day for a bell ringer or something along those lines. I would also just use it in my personal life because I, myself, like to know whats going on.
This is a big plus and I would totally and more than likely am going to use this in the future!

Hello!
I thought this site was So much fun. There were so many different categories to choose from. I picked this one because you can add in any text that you would like and it would write it down on the piece of paper. I figured the paper had to do with school and seeing how this was a school assignment I picked it. I think this would be a great tool in the classroom maybe on a free day or something to keep the kids entertained. I played around with each category but by far this was my favorite. You can also choose different colors on the paper but I enjoy black and white photos so I that's way I did it in these colors.

I chose to use Spell with Flickr. This was a very simple site but also a very fun one at that. I feel that this would be great when it comes to powerpoints in the classroom. It would give the students something to play around with because I know I played around with it for some time. This brings some life back into powerpoints because it is an interesting way to spell out words.

Hello everyone :)
For thing number 6, I viewed the Web 2.0 cite for something that caught my eye. I chose the number one online communicator, Skype. I have Skype on my computer and it's very interesting. Skype is text, voice, and video chatting all on the Internet. I think this was a very wise tool to invent especially for those long distance relationships, army wives or husbands, or long distance relatives. Skype makes things ten times easier to talk to these people. You can be just about anywhere to use Skype as long as their is a Wi-Fi connection. When I first added Skpe to my lap top I was so anxious to use it I video chatted my sister, who was in the next room! Before my fiance moved to Clarksville, he lived about an hour away so I didn't have alot of time to see him due to school and work. Instead of just using our cell phones to talk, we would use Skype. In my opinion this kept our relationship strong! It was so nice to not only talk to him but to see his face as well. Skype today is a very popular tool and it's growing as we speak. Now even cell phones that have Wi-Fi connection can download Skype and video chat through your phone...CRAZY! If you have one of these long distance relationships or family, soldiers to talk to, or even just want to talk to your sister in the next room I would really recommend Skype :)
Talk to everyone again soon!

Web 2.0 means that in today's technology I have so many sources I can use. I can also have all these sources right when I want them. In the past this was something that teachers or students did not have, which made homework and papers a lot harder than it is today. Being an education major this could help me tremendously in the classroom, whether it's with online blogs, websites, and lesson plans. I am leaning towards teaching kindergarten and I feel that showing them interesting things on line will keep there attention more rather than just talking to them. If we have all this fast technology now I can't even imagine what the schools will be like in the future!
Thing #4
Commenting is very important because it builds a bond between the reader and the author. After a reader has read the blog and feels like he or she has thoughts on it this way by commenting they can. I also feel like commenting is important for the author as well. This way the author can know thoughts on her blog. For example say the blogger is using this in the classroom and blogging about a lesson for the next day and just wants to know if everyone thinks its a bad idea or a good idea, by commenting you can know what everyones thoughts are.
So far I have commented on :

Hey Everyone!
I have finally gotten the hang of this blogger website..I think!
Some different ways I would use Blogger would be for instance using it like a live journal to recapture my lesson plan for the day. I would post it in my blog so that maybe other teachers could comment on it and possibly help me to make the lesson better or more fit with the age group I am working with. Another example of using the blog in the classroom could be with older kids maybe having a class discussion blog where everyone could share their thoughts on what is being taught and what they need help on in the class. Some other ideas for using the blog could be describing what worked and what didn't work in the classroom for me, providing how to's on homework problems, and possibly even getting other teachers advise throughout the year by communicating on the blog. I think using the Blogger website in the classroom is a great idea and I also feel that in the long run it may help statistics in the classroom, as far as writing skills and possibly test grades because they could discuss what they are having problems with that day or week.

Hello Again!
Creating my blog, like I said in my first post was rather easy. My fiance is a computer whiz so he helped me out alot..I like to call it teamwork. I decided on my blog name by using my last name and then something fun and catchy to go along with it. Actually figuring out how to post something was also easy as well, basically it's like a live journal, you just talk about different things on your mind. Creating my avatar was alot of fun! I definitely think it reflects who I am. My hair color is blonde and I'm a natural blonde, I have green blue eyes but since my favorite color is green I went with green eyes, my outfit is very simple and I feel that I am a simple person, and lastly my shoes, I chose tennis shoes because I am athletic and tennis shoes represents that I think.
Hopefully this was another successful blog!

Creating my blog, like I said in my first post was rather easy. My fiance is a computer whiz so he helped me out alot..I like to call it teamwork. I decided on my blog name by using my last name and then something fun and catchy to go along with it. Thing #1
Hello All!
After reading and listening to 7 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners, I came to the conclusion that my easiest habit would be Habit 7 1/2, to Play. I feel that it makes it easier for students to learn if the lesson is not only educational but fun as well. This will help keep the student's attention on the lesson rather than day dreaming. The hardest habit for me is Habit 4, Having Confidence in Yourself as an Effective Learner. When it comes to school work and studying for me I always jump right to "I don't understand." I never take the time to actually practice problems or look over something twice instead of once. I need to build my confidence in learning if I would to become an effective teacher.
Setting up my blog was farely easy, with the help of my fiance and my brain we got it done within a few minutes. I hope to learn all kinds of interesting ideas through Web 2.0 and I hope my first blog wasn't a failure. I look forward to writing more post in the future :)
